A fiver a year!
Cycle Shepway greatly appreciates your support but we are running on empty.
Cycle Shepway receives no funding for day-to-day running costs like printing, campaigning, route surveys and general administration. Fortunately, the relaunch of our website has been funded by much -appreciated contributions from local councillors. However, all other day-to-day costs have to be met from the pockets of the committee, all of whom are volunteers. Whenever possible, we also provide financial support for the Folkestone Town Sprucers, who assist with maintenance of cycle paths.
As we grow, and campaigns like the Cinque Ports Cycleway from Folkestone to Dungeness are implemented, it is vital we have support to carry forward our fight for better and safer cycling in the area. For that reason, we are asking supporters to donate a minimum of £5 per household per year. Of course, if you’d like to make a donation larger than £5, we would be delighted. Cycle Shepway is also seeking funds from elsewhere. To date, we have received £2,000 from Kent County Council to erect dual-use notices along the seafront cycle route between Folkestone to Sandgate. Such grants are much appreciated but they are specific to projects and cannot be spent on the running costs of our pressure group. That is why we urgently seek your financial support.
This is how you can donate:
By Bank Transfer to our Nationwide Account
Please contact our Treasurer Alan Joyce (contact details as above).
Every little helps – if every one of our 250 supporters sent us a fiver, we’d comfortably meet our campaign costs. Please help us keep Cycle Shepway on the road.
